It’s just two more days until one of the largest auto shows in the country will take place. The 2024 Philippine International Motor Show will happen at World Trade Center in Pasay City this coming October 24–27.
With all the manufacturers pushing out teasers to entice the public into visiting their booths, we thought of compiling a short list of what we think will be shown off or what’s confirmed to show up.
CHANGAN. As we posted on Facebook a few days back, the Chinese brand will be introducing the very first range-extended EV pickup truck in the Hunter REEV. This utilizes a hybrid setup that combines both a gasoline engine and an electric motor with a large battery for a range of a little over 1,000km.
CHERY. The brand will be introducing two new facelifted models to its lineup, but they’re on the smaller side of the crossover spectrum. The first is the updated Tiggo 2 Pro, and the second model is the heavily revised Tiggo 5X Pro, which now resembles its larger Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 siblings.
FOTON. The commercial truckmaker has teased two vehicles on its Facebook page. The first is the Wonder, a mini EV truck, and a silhouette that looks to be the E View Grand, which is also an EV commercial van.
HONDA. We already got a sneak preview of the latest Civic RS e:HEV at an event held last month. Expect the manufacturer to give the full details on the hybrid sedan at the show, and potentially the rest of the model variants with the latest facelift.
JETOUR. As shown by its Facebook teaser, the Chinese brand will be showing off several vehicles new and old. The automaker is already releasing teaser shots of what looks to be a customized T2 and a new model that is probably the X50, a compact crossover to fill in the space under the X70 and the X70 Plus.
KIA. The Korean brand has already confirmed that it will be revealing the EV9 electric SUV at this year’s show. Expect to find out more details about the trims and the features of the vehicle.
MAZDA. There won’t be any new vehicles launched by the brand, but the focus will be on formally launching the AutoExe performance parts. It will be headlined by two cars, the 3 and CX-60 AutoExe Editions.
MG. As teased by its Facebook page, we will be seeing the all-new MG HS that was previewed at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. One of the biggest highlights is the fact that this car comes available as a plug-in hybrid.
MITSUBISHI. Arguably, it will be one of the bigger launches of the program as the brand will be holding a global debut of a new concept car, which is touted to be a seven-seater SUV. Is it the new Montero Sport or an Xforce-based crossover?
NISSAN. The automaker’s four vehicles that will be displayed are going to be doozies for consumers. Based on our guesses, we will most likely be seeing the likes of the X-Trail e-Power, the Z Nismo, the Y63 Patrol, and the recently updated Magnite subcompact crossover.
SUZUKI. The brand will be flaunting a “future forward” concept vehicle for those who are passionate about clean, efficient mobility. Aside from this, there will be an “exciting version” of the beloved Jimny, which has the old Jimny Rhino logo in the background (which hints at a special edition of the SUV).
TOYOTA. The biggest car brand in our country is also going all-out by parading at least three or four new vehicles at the show. These are the Kayoibako Concept and the bZ4x for the electrified concepts, and potentially a new sedan or two. Could these be the Camry and the Vios?
THE OTHERS. Several other brands have also given hints as to what they’ll be launching, such as BMW with an “electrified M model” and Isuzu also with an “electrified model,” but manufacturers like Ford have remained mum. Meanwhile, Hyundai will be revealing its current releases like the Tucson and the Santa Fe Hybrid, alongside Spot the robot dog.
