In late 2020, the Nissan Magnite was launched in India. It is a subcompact crossover that measures no longer than 4,000mm, just like the Kia Sonet. The vehicle has only been available in right-hand-drive (RHD) countries. However, with the introduction of the facelifted model, Nissan has announced that the Magnite will be exported to left-hand-drive (LHD) markets.

The new Magnite measures 3,994mm long, 1,758mm wide, and 1,572mm high. It also has a wheelbase of 2,500mm, a ground clearance of 205mm, and a cargo space of up to 690L.
Under the hood is a 1.0-liter turbo-gasoline engine with 99hp. This is paired with either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission.
Inside, you’ll find a digital driver display and an infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Minor features include adjustable ambient lighting as well as a ventilated glove box. For drivers who still have difficulty parking such a small car, the Around View Monitor uses four cameras to give a bird’s-eye view of the vehicle.

Looking at the bigger picture, the export of the Magnite is part of Nissan’s business plan to solidify India as a manufacturing hub. Since its launch, the subcompact crossover has sold over 150,000 units in 20 RHD markets.
And when the model is released in LHD markets, the Magnite will be sold in more than 45 additional countries starting in 2025. Will this include the Philippines? It might be one of the vehicles Nissan has in store for this year’s Philippine International Motor Show.
