You read that right. According to the press release, the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero is built at the brand’s production facility in Thailand and will be exported to and sold in Japan (and hopefully to our shores soon).
There’s no other way to put it: It felt like the end of an era when Mitsubishi pulled the plug on its most iconic nameplate. But after years of waiting, speculation, and endless rumors, the Pajero is officially back.

Exterior-wise, the Pajero has a similar look to the Xforce and the Destinator but on steroids. It carries the signature T-shaped lighting signature featured across the brand’s newest lineup.

Inside, it inherits the classic design elements updated with twin 14.3-inch displays. The center screen features a digitalized version of the iconic triple-meter cluster—a clear nod to the Pajeros of yesteryear.

On top of that, it’s equipped with modern infotainment, comprehensive sound-insulation enhancements, and advanced driver assistance systems like forward-collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control.

Underneath that fresh look sits a wide, rigid ladder-frame platform using high-tensile steel. It’s designed to shed weight while delivering better stability and handling, together with a non-electrified 2.4-liter “clean” diesel engine paired with a newly developed eight-speed automatic transmission. According to the press release, it produces 480Nm of torque.
Dimensions-wise, the SUV measures 4,920mm long, 1,925mm wide, and 1,910mm high, with a healthy 230mm of ground clearance.

We’re excited to see this hit Philippine roads, but now the real question is: Can we get the Lancer to come back next?
