Most people’s image of a Mini Cooper is almost always a three-door hatchback with a cute face. But over the years, market forces have somehow morphed the iconic vehicle into one that is truly capable of accommodating a family. This five-door formula continues to exist to this day, and its newest iteration is now in the Philippines.

The Cooper 5-Door may be a tad controversial in terms of its styling, but there is no denying that the addition of back doors makes this vehicle a lot more practical than the standard model. No need to slide the front seats forward to access the rear bench. The 5-Door also has an extended wheelbase and more room for cargo—both of which should add to its versatility.
Mini’s present design language is all about minimalism (excuse the pun). The Cooper’s front end is dominated by simple round headlights and an octagonal grille. The sole trim level is called Favoured, which thankfully does not come with excessive bling. For example, the 18-inch wheels come in a tasteful hue.

The simplicity is carried over to the inside. Pretty much the only thing that sings and dances in the cabin is the centrally mounted 240mm-diameter circular screen. It comes with Mini’s latest software, which can be interacted with using touch or voice commands. Owners can also use “Experience Modes” to further personalize the interior.
Mini has even gone to great lengths in cleaning up the dashboard by eliminating the traditional gear lever. This has been replaced by a storage box, cupholders, and a wireless charger. Controls for the transmission, the parking brake, the engine starter, and the volume are now conveniently located in a console just below the screen.

The Cooper 5-Door retails for P3,799,000. For more information, simply get in touch with any of Mini’s authorized dealerships nationwide.
