New brands keep arriving, but there’s a new player on the block coming this October.

Filipino car owners like customizing their rides (myself included), and if you’ve been out and about, you’ll see plenty of modified cars on the road. When it comes to SUVs, there’s no shortage of inspiration in the local car culture—whether it’s an aggressive off-road look, a practical overlanding setup, or even a luxury “VIP” build.

A new brand of New Energy Vehicles under the Chery Group is arriving in the Philippines.

“Classic never fades.” That’s the tagline of the Chery Group’s new offering in the Philippines, called iCaur (known as iCar in its home market of China).

Locally distributed under Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines—though operating through separate dealerships—iCaur is launching two models: the V23 and the V27.

The V23 is a compact SUV reminiscent of the new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ (though slightly smaller), powered by a purely electric drivetrain. The V27, on the other hand, is a midsize SUV similar in size to the Jetour T2. It uses a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) system to give you electric driving performance without range anxiety on long road trips.

Given their boxy shapes and modular frames, we can already see the huge potential for aftermarket customizations, much like what we saw in China last year.

We’ve yet to get exact local specs and pricing, but we’ll find out more once the brand officially launches next month.
