Despite the influx of several brands providing budget offerings over the past few years, Chinese (or pseudo-British) automaker MG appears to be going strong. The firm sold 9,106 vehicles in the Philippines in 2024, and it managed to place ninth in terms of sales.
Leading the numbers game is the 5 sedan with 3,415 units dispatched. This makes it the top-selling model in its class. Also contributing to MG’s success are the ZS crossover and the G50 Plus people carrier—the former historically being the company’s best-selling product.
This achievement could be attributed to MG’s current distributor, which took over in the middle of 2023. Under the leadership of SAIC Motor Philippines, the brand refreshed its legacy product portfolio and launched a variety of hybrid and electric vehicles.
Can it hold on to the top spot among Chinese car brands this year?
