Chevrolet PH to introduce a 7-seater crossover MPV on October 18

This should be the second-generation Captiva

Ever since Hariphil Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) took over the distributorship of Chevrolet, the brand has been dead silent other than a new dealership in Camarines Sur.

But it looks like it’s ready to make some noise with an all-new “seven-seater crossover MPV” set to be introduced on October 18 at the HARI Auto Resources Center in Calamba, Laguna.

The press release provided is light on details, other than the vehicle has a panoramic sunroof, the “latest in safety and driver-assistance technologies,” and most importantly, seating for seven with foldable second- and third-row seats.

The side profile seen in the teaser matches the second-generation Captiva, which is essentially a rebadged Baojun 530 made in partnership with SAIC-GM-Wuling in China. That and the telling copy of another teaser: “Get ready for something captivating.” If that’s not revealing enough, we don’t know what is.

Some basic specs from other markets include a 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine with 148hp and 255Nm, mated to a CVT.

Depending on the trim, wheel sizes max out at 18 inches; there is either fabric or leather upholstery; the car is equipped with a large 10.4-inch portrait touchscreen that supports smartphone integration; and a whole bevy of driver-assistance features completes the package.

With a fairly popular “crossover MPV,” are you excited for the model’s eventual return?
