It seems that Kia is keen on expanding its style-focused, premium all-electric “EV” nameplate. It first introduced the EV6 in March 2021, which is the first of its many electric cars that it plans to launch in the following years.

Now, it is teasing the next model in the lineup, dubbed the EV9, which is an SUV that also rides on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that underpins its smaller sibling and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6.

Not much details have been revealed, but the automaker has released two videos on its YouTube channel that showcase the vehicle’s body lines and lighting patterns shown off by its front and rear lighting signatures.

Kia calls this “sculptural design” with “confident and assertive geometry,” which looks similar to its Concept EV9 that it showed off at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show.

It’s a good thing the production car closely resembles the concept, as it looks like a futuristic Telluride. Styling is subjective, but we’re all for more futuristic electric vehicles on the road that don’t look like Teslas.

Excited? The automaker will show off the exterior and interior design in mid-March, and everything will be revealed at the end of this month.
