Toyota Motor Philippines is fixing a couple of items on three models of its products—all of which are rebadged Daihatsu vehicles. According to a bulletin issued by the Department of Trade and Industry, TMP is conducting a “free special service campaign” for the Raize, the Avanza and the Veloz concerning their front disc brake cylinder slide pin boots. Affected units were produced from September 12 to December 13, 2022.

Also, the Avanza and the Veloz are being recalled for their right-hand front side-impact beam, which needs a “reinforcement bracket and additional welding.” Affected units were produced from November 3 to 24, 2022.

It is not clear whether these concerns—especially the right-hand side-impact beam—are directly connected to the safety issues that have been dogging Toyota subsidiary Daihatsu in Japan and in other global markets. You will recall that TMP has released a statement assuring customers that Daihatsu vehicles sold in our market as Toyota cars are not part of the safety issue.

We will update you regarding this if we receive new information.

If you own any of these vehicles manufactured on the above-mentioned dates, consider yourself notified. This service campaign is free and will not incur owners any cost.
