For those of you who have been waiting for the all-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado to arrive on Philippine shores, that time has come. The Lexus GX was launched about a month ago, so it’s probably only sensible for its twin to finally make its presence known to eager customers.
We’ve written about the latest Prado at length during its global launch last year, so we’ll limit this piece to what customers can expect from Philippine-spec vehicles. The sole variant will be equipped with a 2.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. With respectable figures of 277hp and 430Nm, we think the lack of a diesel option won’t be an issue.
Buyers with families will be happy to know that there is seating for seven. Instrumentation is provided by a 10-inch display, while entertainment is taken care of by a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless phone integration. Other features worth noting include a panoramic camera and USB-C chargers for all three rows.
The local Prado will not look significantly different from models sold in other markets. But instead of the classic-style front end with bold “Toyota” lettering, our market gets a slatted grille. We’re not sure why this was chosen, but a more stylish replacement will surely be available from aftermarket suppliers.
The Land Cruiser Prado will retail for P4,800,000. It will come in three colors: Black Mica, Avant-Garde Bronze, and White Pearl Mica (for an additional P15,000). More details are available on this website or at your preferred authorized Toyota dealership.
