GWM Philippines cooked up a launch for the SUV and pickup crowd for the 2025 Manila International Auto Show. After having appointed Dax Avenido as brand head, the Chinese brand had first previewed its added and updated models during a closed event at Karrera Showroom.

The new Haval H9 is the brand’s full-size luxury SUV setting itself apart from its Japanese equivalents. Meanwhile, the facelifted Cannon freshens its fascia and trim with matte black galore (while the Lux keeps the chrome grille from the previous SLux).
Under both models’ hoods is a 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine mated to a nine-speed hydraulic automatic transmission. For the Cannon, it’s an upgrade from the 2.0-liter unit that now outputs 181hp and 480Nm, improving towing capacity and fuel efficiency.

The Haval H9 is currently being evaluated for local specification, so it’s uncertain whether the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, the 14.6-inch infotainment system, the 10-speaker system, or the full safety suite would make it to Philippine roads. Nevertheless, the vehicle is set to launch later this year.
Meanwhile, the updated Cannon barely changed its prices at P1,348,000 for the Lux, and P1,498,000 for the SLux. Aside from the new powertrain, it’s now fitted with voice command control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and ventilated seats.

Regardless, both off-roaders still boast BorgWarner’s intelligent Torque-On-Demand four-wheel-drive system and a high-strength steel body-on-frame, making all-terrain trekking a breeze and a luxury.
Whether for an urban go-getter or a countryside adventurer, GWM Philippines has it covered, and hopefully, Luxuriant Automotive Group will have more to offer in 2025.
