One Chinese automaker we’ve been looking forward to doing battle in the highly competitive Philippine car market is Lynk & Co. About a month ago, we wrote about how the brand will be under the care of United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (Chery and Foton distributor). Today at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show, the firm finally makes its official debut.
First, we have the aptly named 01. It is available as a plug-in hybrid with a healthy 258hp from its turbocharged 1.5-liter engine paired with an electric motor. It has a battery-only range of 69km, which should be generous enough for trips within the city. Other features worth noting include stylish 20-inch wheels and a comprehensive suite of driver aids.
As far as styling goes, the 05 will be turning heads because of its unusual fastback profile. Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with 251hp. This is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, which will give the 05 predictable manners even in low-grip conditions. Occupants will enjoy listening to the Infinity 10-speaker sound system in the comfort of Nappa leather and nubuck seats.
For budget-conscious customers, there is the 06. Despite being the most affordable member of Lynk & Co’s portfolio, this car packs a punch with its turbocharged 1.5-liter engine delivering 179hp and 290Nm. Power is sent to the wheels by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Driving the 06 around tight spaces will be less of a chore with its 540° panoramic camera.
Prices for all three models are as follows:
- 01 – P2,338,000
- 05 Hyper Halo – P2,478,000
- 06 Hyper Halo – P1,598,000
- 06 Hyper Pro – P1,448,000
Interestingly, Lynk & Co also has a unit of the 03+ at its exhibit. This sports sedan has a 261hp turbo engine mated to an all-wheel-drive system. It is also a rare example of a Chinese car with a legit racing pedigree. From what we understand, the brand might be offering the 03+ in the future.
These vehicles will be on display at World Trade Center on April 4-7.
