Dongfeng Motor Philippines, under the stewardship of Legado Motors, has launched its new vehicle lineup with an ad campaign entitled “Drive Your Friend.”
The complete lineup of Dongfeng vehicles was presented to guests, clients, partners, suppliers, and members of the media: the Aeolus Huge, the Forthing Friday, and the Nanobox.
These were joined by new models: the Rich 7, the Nammi, the Forthing U-Tour, the MHero, and the Aeolus Mage.
It is impressive how Legado Motors is able to immediately bring to market eight models considering it has only been seven months since the distributor took the reins of the brand in the Philippines.
The other notable news is the newly appointed managing director who will head operations, none other than longtime industry veteran Atty. Albert Arcilla. He previously headed Viking Cars Philippines and The Covenant Car Company Inc., distributors of Volvo and Chevrolet, respectively.
Before they were launched, the new models were teased on anonymous billboards displayed around Metro Manila featuring a chat group of friends with the names of Rich, Nanie, Nammie, Hugo, Tori, Margo, Fred, and Hero planning their next road trip.
The gang’s mysterious conversation—which drew the attention of netizens and content creators—set the tone for the “Drive Your Friend” campaign, and highlighted the different personalities embodied by Dongfeng’s new models.
The Nammi is the brand’s compact electric vehicle ideal for fashionable daily city driving. It has a 430km range coupled with a 30-minute fast-charging ability. It is priced at P1,238,000.
The Aeolus Mage is the brand’s crossover. It combines a sporty appearance and a spacious interior. It is also loaded with such tech as a 13.2-inch display and a multifunctional steering wheel that also acts as a gamepad.
Propelling the Mage is a powerful yet efficient 1.5-liter MachPower Turbo gasoline engine for only P1,249,000.
The pickup is both a workhorse and a lifestyle vehicle, and Dongfeng has its own.
Codeveloped with Nissan, the Rich 7 pickup truck showcases a 2.3-liter turbo diesel engine with front and rear differential locks, an off-road protection frame with off-road info displays, and 540° cameras. This heavy-duty truck will sell for P1,298,000.
The Forthing U-Tour is the brand’s MPV contender. Boasting a “yacht-like” interior, spacious seating capacity for the whole family, and other luxury amenities, the U-Tour joins the competition in the booming MPV segment.
Power also comes from the brand’s 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine that produces 197hp and 285Nm, with a starting price of P1,358,000.
The brand’s flagship model is the fully electric, military-inspired MHero SUV, which packs brutal zombie-apocalypse vibes and a 1,000hp four-wheel-drive powertrain with a 500km range. It is also equipped with rear-wheel steering to aid maneuverability. This colossus of a car has an equally titanic SRP of P6,980,000.
