Remember the Lexus LF-Z concept? It looks like the production version will be coming sooner than later as the automaker just showed off teaser images of the RZ.

This vehicle will be fully revealed in the first half of 2022. It will utilize a dedicated BEV platform, which may be the e-TNGA base that underpins the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra twins. It isn’t the first all-electric vehicle from Lexus, though. That distinction goes to the UX300e, which rides on the TNGA-C framework.

The teasers show a more down-to-earth version of the LF-Z’s strong lines, but the car still retains distinct features such as the solid spindle grille, rear light bar, Lexus lettering (sans “Electrified” badging), and the fastback profile.

We’re not so sure if the LF-Z’s crazy cockpit will fully make it into production with the yoke-style tiller, augmented-reality HUD, electrochromic glass roof, and artificial intelligence. But it should resemble the new direction of Lexus interiors which debuted in the all-new NX. If anything, the “R” in the name is possibly an indication of its size being similar to the RX.
