Ken Block will race this Porsche 911 at Pikes Peak

It features all-wheel drive and a 1,400hp engine

Ken Block is famous for the Gymkhana series of videos. But while the honors for that have been passed on to Travis Pastrana and his Subaru GL, Block continues to make waves in motorsports. Having honed his skill in rally racing, the stunt driver now has his eyes on the summit of Pikes Peak.

And he’s going to do that in this extensively modified Porsche 911, dubbed the “Hoonipigasus.” The name is a combination of the Hoonigan clothing brand, the 1971 Porsche 917/20 “Pink Pig” Le Mans racer, and Mobil 1’s Pegasus trademark.

Porsche specialist BBi Autosport was responsible for turning this vintage 911 into a hill-climb monster. The 1,400hp engine is situated in front of the rear axle, and powers an all-wheel-drive system. In addition, the midship layout apparently favors Block’s driving style. Topping everything off is a height-adjustable suspension system that automatically alters its settings via GPS.

The Hoonipigasus will be competing in the Pikes Peak Open class this year. Block had previously driven the hill-climb course for stunt videos, but this will be his first time competing as an official entrant.
