Endurance racing is a bit of a hot topic right now, especially after Toyota’s latest victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We all know that a whole slew of manufacturers will be competing in the Hypercar and Le Mans Daytona Hybrid (LMDh) classes in the next few years. You can now add Cadillac to that growing list of entrants.

The car it is building is called the LMDh-V.R. It will utilize a chassis penned by GM Design and built by Dallara. A bespoke “Cadillac engine package” will be paired with a standardized hybrid system. While Hypercar and LMDh entries essentially have the same performance, the vehicles competing in the latter must use a common carbon-fiber frame and hybrid unit. The manufacturer has free rein over other parts (such as the bodywork and the internal-combustion motor).

Cadillac will be partnering with Chip Ganassi Racing and Action Express Racing. The LMDh-V.R will be racing at various World Endurance Championship- and International Motor Sports Association-sanctioned events. Its competition debut will be at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in January 2023. The automaker’s past racing campaigns have been very successful with multiple titles in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Pirelli World Challenge Championship.
