More than 50 years ago, Bertone unveiled the Autobianchi A112 Runabout concept at the Turin International Motor Show. Its wedge-shaped design was inspired by racing boats of the time, and spawned the Fiat X1/9 in 1972 and the Lancia Stratos a year later.
The 1969 Runabout had a 1.1-liter engine that produced 55hp.

Now, an all-new Bertone Runabout has been reinterpreted for the modern era. Output is 493hp from its mid-mounted V6 engine. And it has doors, unlike the original.
Sharing the same spirit, the new Runabout is offered in two styles. The Barchetta is a topless variant without a windshield for the purist. Then there’s the Targa with a removable roof for those who want versatility.
“The new Bertone Runabout is not just a car, but a tribute to Italy’s tradition of iconic sports cars,” shared design lead Andrea Mocellin. “Crafted with precision, it celebrates geometry and design with only two defining lines—capturing the essence of elegance and the joy of driving.”

The Runabout commemorates the launch of the Bertone Classic line, a series focusing on reintroducing Bertone’s most renowned designs. This model, along with those that will follow, will be produced in limited numbers.
More importantly, the Classic line combines Bertone’s design heritage with high-performance engineering.
