It was a rainy Friday night at Arca South, Taguig, when Ford Philippines finally launched the latest variants of its Ranger pickup truck. The Raptor, the rock star of the event, showed its 4×4 prowess through a course of dirt hills and mud pits as attendees witnessed in awe what a true-blue super truck like this was capable of. As inconvenient as the conditions may have been, it was the perfect playground for the off-road beast.
The inclement weather and the lack of proper lighting at the venue due to unforeseen technical issues didn’t dampen the excitement of the audience as Ford Philippines managing director Bertrand Lessard and marketing/sales vice president Rodel Gallega set the stage for their latest tour de force. As you already know, the year’s most anticipated pickup truck carries a very attractive price tag of P1,898,000. You can go ahead and give yourself a pinch if you think you’re still dreaming.
Under the Raptor’s hood is a 2.0-liter biturbo diesel engine that produces 210hp and a whopping 500Nm of torque. All that muscle is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that optimizes both performance and efficiency. The badass Ranger also comes equipped with terrain-conquering Fox Racing Shox dampers that would make any off-road junkie bow before it with respect. With physical dimensions dwarfing those of its Wildtrak sibling and a best-in-class water-wading depth of 850mm, the Ranger Raptor clearly stands out as the alpha dog in its segment.
Here are photographs we took of your dream pickup on the night it officially landed on Philippine soil. Enjoy.
