When car enthusiasts come together, conversations likely revolve around engines, horsepower, or how one model fares over the other in terms of suspension or rim size, resulting in a never-ending discussion of particulars. This expansive knowledge is undeniably impressive.
Women drivers, on the other hand, have a different relationship with their cars. Our reason to drive one might be simple, but it’s grounded and it’s in-touch. And that is, to take us where we need to go. When it comes to driving, it’s the women who seem to be laser-focused on one important thing, especially for the mothers that have their children or even fur babies in tow. That thing is called practicality. Often overlooked—and deemed as boring—practicality prioritizes order, efficiency, safety and stability before passion, temporary gratification, or that need to flex. We won’t even give an unusable vintage muscle car a second look knowing it won’t serve its purpose (and eventually empty our pockets with maintenance bills, for example). Well, one member of a couple has to be the adult in the room, right?

All jokes aside, women tend to bring the realistic approach to driving, and we’d like some of that credit, too.
Women drivers may be less interested in the details, but this does not make us any less capable. Filipina drivers are not only practical, but we are self-reliant as well. Lady-owned cars are likely to be packed with the essentials—ready to face any situation come rain, shine or heavy traffic. Charge it to our nurturing side to include items that keep passengers comfortable and even well-fed (like some snacks stored in the compartments).
For women, a car isn’t just a machine—it’s an extension of the home and a safe space to contrast the harsh environments when out on the road. Because of this mindset, prioritizing safety and defensive driving is what we contribute to the community. We have adapted early on, and have become innately cautious and patient. We have learned to be more hyper-aware of the unpredictable situations that can occur at any time within urban and rural settings.

The female community shapes driving culture in the best ways possible, reminding motorists that driving isn’t always just about the performance; more importantly, it is about safety, responsibility, caution, and practicality. For us, it’s about life.
