UAAGI adds yet another Chinese car brand to its stable, and it’s called Radar

Last Thursday, after an intimate dinner with the media group that went to China with Jetour on the occasion of Auto Shanghai 2025, United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) chairman Rommel Sytin told me that his team had just signed a contract to bring to the Philippine market another Chinese car brand. This time, he said, it’s a brand specializing in electric vehicles.

He was referring to Radar, a Geely-owned sub-brand, making this the second Geely sub-brand (Lynk & Co being the first one) in the UAAGI stable. To be clear, Geely the mother brand is distributed here by a direct subsidiary, officially called Geely Motor Philippines.

UAAGI, meanwhile, also distributes Foton, Chery, and BAIC—all Chinese marques.

“Radar has quickly emerged as a significant player in the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) pickup segment,” Sytin shares. “Notably, Radar holds a commanding position in its segment, capturing over 50% of the Chinese market share from 2023 to the present day. This impressive market dominance underscores the brand’s innovation, quality, and appeal to consumers seeking sustainable and versatile transportation solutions.”

Radar is a very new EV brand, having been established just in 2022. Its first offering right now is the RD6 (also called Horizon) full-electric pickup. One of our teammates, Hans Bosshard, has already encountered this vehicle as Geely’s guest for the Shanghai event.

According to a press release sent by UAAGI, “Radar has established a strong presence in over 50 countries and regions worldwide. This global reach spans diverse markets, including Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Central America, and South America.”

“In 2025, Radar will enter a new phase of global cooperation,” declares Radar CEO Ling Shiquan. “The brand will strengthen its presence in other mature markets, aiming for 30,000 units in global sales in 2025, and NEV pickup market leadership in every region.”

So…the full-electric Radar RD6 or the plug-in hybrid BYD Shark?
