Aside from producing reliable and affordable mass-market cars, Hyundai has been hard at work scouting potential engineers of the future. The firm recently sent a group of deserving Filipino students to its research facilities in South Korea for some courses in automotive engineering.

Just being selected for this trip must have been a huge thrill for these students. PHOTOS FROM HYUNDAI

As part of the Hyundai Accelerateproject, 40 candidates from Don Bosco Technical Institute and participating city governments were selected for a 12-month study program. This included classroom training and internships at various Hyundai service facilities in Metro Manila.

Nine top-performing members of the batch were then flown to Cheonan, South Korea, for further education. The students attended classes on electric vehicles and advanced driver-assistance systems. Hyundai believes that this will positively impact the industry as more Filipinos see EVs as a viable option.
