Aside from producing reliable and affordable mass-market cars, Hyundai has been hard at work scouting potential engineers of the future. The firm recently sent a group of deserving Filipino students to its research facilities in South Korea for some courses in automotive engineering.
As part of the “Hyundai Accelerate” project, 40 candidates from Don Bosco Technical Institute and participating city governments were selected for a 12-month study program. This included classroom training and internships at various Hyundai service facilities in Metro Manila.
Nine top-performing members of the batch were then flown to Cheonan, South Korea, for further education. The students attended classes on electric vehicles and advanced driver-assistance systems. Hyundai believes that this will positively impact the industry as more Filipinos see EVs as a viable option.
