Here is Mitsubishi PH’s per-model sales breakdown in 2021

The second-highest-selling car brand did just right with 37,548 units

Like other car brands in the market, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines took a steep nosedive in sales during the first year of the pandemic. In 2020, the Japanese automaker saw its performance decline to 37,366 units—down from 64,065 in 2019. For 2021, things were a little better for Mitsubishi, selling a tad more vehicles at 37,548 units.

Aside from the face-lifted (and proudly Philippine-made) Mirage G4, the company was focused on black. As in the Black Series for the Xpander and the Strada. So smitten with the color was the manufacturer that it just missed the introduction of a similarly spruced Montero Sport by a few days to qualify it for last year.

Here are the 2021 sales numbers of individual Mitsubishi models in the Philippines:

  • Xpander – 11,342
  • L300 – 10,147
  • Mirage G4 – 5,962
  • Strada – 5,272
  • Montero Sport – 4,195
  • Mirage Hatchback – 615
  • Outlander PHEV – 9
  • Pajero – 6

With the carmaker’s fondness for black these days, we won’t be surprised if it offers both the Mirage Hatchback and G4 in this mean hue. In fairness, we think these small cars will look good in it.
