Remember when Honda left Formula 1 at the end of 2021? Well, it looks like it will be returning not as an engine supplier, but as the title sponsor for a race. The event will officially be known as the Formula 1 Honda Japanese Grand Prix 2022. It will be held at the Suzuka Circuit in the Mie Prefecture of Japan from October 7-9.

According to Koji Watanabe, operating executive of Honda, the title sponsorship coincides with the 60th anniversary of Suzuka Circuit, and this is the carmaker’s way of supporting and promoting motorsports in Japan. With the country opening up its borders this June, perhaps it’s time to book a flight for the race weekend?
