When you think of electric vehicles, one thing that comes to mind is the word “expensive.” Sure, they’re more expensive up front than the usual internal-combustion cars, but in the long run, having an EV is not only environmentally friendly but it can also save you from spending more than you should on fuel and maintenance.
VinFast is already challenging the narrative by making affordable electric cars and e-motorcycles—even offering free charging in the Philippines. Now, there’s an even newer entry-level car that has just been launched in Vietnam called the VF 2.

If you think the VF 3 is already cute and adorably small, the new VF 2 has just been unveiled at VinFast’s home base in Hanoi, Vietnam, for 188 million VND (P440,000).
Size-wise, it’s a bit larger than the Jetour Ice Cream, but it still manages to squeeze in four people. It measures 3,090mm long (110mm longer than the Ice Cream), 1,496mm wide (same as the Jetour), and stands slightly taller at 1,663mm.

Let’s talk about power. It is propelled by a rear-wheel-drive electric motor that produces 40hp and 65Nm of torque, topping out at a city-appropriate 80km/h. It boasts a range of up to 210km (NEDC) thanks to its 18.3kWh battery. Even better, it is capable of 24kW DC fast charging that allows it to juice up from 10% to 70% in just 34 minutes.
As for the features, you get LED headlights and 13-inch alloy wheels on the outside. Inside, the cabin keeps things strictly functional with a seven-inch screen for the driver’s display, manual air-conditioning, and a radio. Sensible and less stuff to break, if you ask me.

Last but not least: safety. The driver gets an airbag, and the car is equipped with standard electronic assists like ABS, traction control, and electronic brake-force distribution. The suspension layout is also worth mentioning, as it’s a MacPherson setup for both front and rear to handle city roads.
Now, would you be interested in the VF 2 if VinFast launched this in our market?
