The Mercedes-Benz EQS has been a constant presence on our website. It’s the crown jewel of the automaker’s EV range, and it’s a platform that often gets first dibs on the latest tricks of the automotive trade.

In fact, the EQS is so high-tech that some markets take some time to be truly ready for it. And for the Philippines, that time is now.

The sleek EQS is available in a single variant: the EQS450 4Matic AMG. This vehicle’s shape has been meticulously engineered to reduce as much drag as possible. Its coupe-like profile smoothly joins the steeply raked front and rear windows.

It looks more like a fastback than a traditional sedan, and the prominent 3D grille emblem and 21-inch AMG wheels will surely demand attention wherever it goes.

A lot of the EQS’s magic starts once the doors are opened. The angled roof doesn’t eat into the headroom. Passengers have access to climate-controlled seats and 64-color ambient lighting.

Comfort is the name of the game with a suspension layout featuring Mercedes’s patented Airmatic system that’s derived from the S-Class.

Even driving the EQS is an event in itself. The massive 56-inch Hyperscreen dominates the dashboard, and is run by the latest version of the MBUX software.

By monitoring no less than 350 sensors, it can “learn” the car’s usage patterns and make customized suggestions on vehicle settings and entertainment options. And speaking of being entertained, the EQS comes standard with a 15-speaker Burmester sound system.

With 360hp (265kW) and 800Nm on tap, there is no shortage of power from the EQS. There is also plenty of mechanical grip courtesy of the 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

But be gentle with the accelerator and the powertrain can go as far as 717km in between charges, so there is definitely enough endurance for both short city drives and long out-of-town trips.

The EQS is right at the top of the Mercedes-Benz hierarchy, and this is clearly reflected in its introductory price of P9,990,000. Anyone interested should simply head on over to any of the brand’s authorized dealers nationwide.
