A mere two years after the introduction of the Utopia Coupe, Pagani has just taken the cover of its latest al fresco driving machine, the Utopia Roadster.
Horacio Pagani’s latest masterpiece was developed relatively quickly (by his insanely high standards), considering that the open-top Huayra took more than five years to be ready.
The reason behind this somewhat swift rollout is the fact that Pagani developed the Utopia as a coupe and a roadster right from the start, allowing for almost parallel development of both models.

The result is yet another out-of-this-world driving machine that features the by-now iconic 6.0-liter Mercedes-AMG biturbo V12. In the Utopia, this powerplant produces 864hp and delivers a maximum torque of 1,100Nm exclusively to the rear wheels.
Horacio maintains his stance against incorporating all-wheel-drive or hybrid powertrains, an opinion that will no doubt please purists. As will the available gearbox options. That big V12 engine is paired with either a sequential seven-speed gearbox or a manual transmission with an open gate, both provided by Xtrac and positioned behind the engine.

Another result of the parallel development of coupe and roadster is that both cars have an identical dry weight of 1,280kg. That doesn’t mean they are the same cars, of course. Pagani being Pagani, components like the monocoque—crafted from high-tech materials like Carbo-Titanium HP62—underwent extensive revisions, and the aerodynamics were also tweaked to take into account the lack of a roof.
On the subject of which, the roadster comes with a three-in-one roof solution. There’s a hardtop complete with a glass insert that turns the car into a coupe, but there’s no space to carry this along once it is removed. To prevent the immaculate interior from being soaked in sudden downpours, Pagani has given the Roadster a compact fabric roof that is stowed behind the seats and can be quickly fitted if needed.

This V12 sunseeker also comes with seven double-spoke wheels specifically designed for the Roadster and covered in high-tech rubber. The Utopia Roadster (and the Coupe) are the first models to be equipped with Pirelli’s new Cyber Tire. These advanced tires feature sensors that communicate directly with the car’s systems like ABS and ESP, allowing for more precise interventions.
Inside, the Utopia Roadster mirrors the Coupe with minimal differences, adhering to Pagani’s principle of timeless, high-quality design. The attention to detail that the brand is so famous for is still evident, from the subtly updated key featuring the new Roadster silhouette to the extensive customization options for both the exterior and the interior. This isn’t a cabin; it’s an artwork you can sit in and drive.

Sadly, exquisite art comes at a price, and in the case of Pagani, that’s usually quite steep. The supercar maker plans to produce 130 units of the Utopia Roadster, compared to just 99 units of the Coupe. This limited production should ensure that the Coupe remains the more exclusive variant.
The base price for the Utopia Roadster is set at €3,100,000 (P195,000,000), but you can easily add another six-figure amount in extras and customization. If you want to see one in the metal, then head to the upcoming 2024 Monterey Car Week in the US, where it will be officially unveiled.
