For the moneyed Formula 1 superfan

From fridge magnets to toys, loads of people like to collect different things. But only relatively few humans are lucky enough to be able to collect actual cars, never mind proper sports cars.

Still, there seem to be enough of them out there for Mercedes to create a special model for these lucky men. While you and I might get the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 baseball cap or T-shirt, 200 fortunate individuals now have a chance to own the AMG GT63 Pro 4MATIC+ Motorsport Collectors Edition.

Unveiled as part of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, this special-edition super Merc is packed with design and equipment elements that closely link it to the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. Even the base obsidian black metallic paint takes inspiration from the team’s current F1 race car, complete with hand-painted silver Mercedes stars on the rear flanks and Petronas-colored stripes stretching from the front fenders over the beltline to the roof.

You’ll find more Petronas-colored accents on the front splitter, the front apron air intake flicks, the side sill panels, and the rear diffuser attachment. This limited edition also sits on forged 21-inch AMG wheels with a matte-black, cross-spoke design, accented by Petronas-colored rim flanges.

It features the standard AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system, with brake calipers finished in the same color. Up front, the brakes use 420mm discs, while Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires keep the car planted to the road.

The AMG exterior carbon fiber package adds a front splitter, side sill trim, a diffuser, and a rear wing in the lightweight material, underscoring the motorsport connection. Also included are a panoramic glass roof, an AMG aerodynamics package with a fixed rear wing, and the AMG Night Package II, featuring black chrome elements like the radiator trim, the rear typography, and the Mercedes star. Even the AMG fuel filler cap gets the special treatment in silver chrome with “AMG” lettering.

It probably has enough grunt to act as a pace car. PHOTOS FROM MERCEDES-AMG

The interior carries over the color theme of the Malaysian oil company, with AMG performance seats wrapped in black Nappa leather and Microcut microfiber, highlighted by Petronas-colored stitching and embossed AMG crests on the headrests.

Carbon trim elements blend nicely with the heated AMG performance steering wheel that also features the colorful stitching. This theme runs across the door panels, the instrument panel, and the center console, with even the doorsill trims finished in black and illuminated in Petronas colors.

Other standard features include the Burmester high-end 3D surround-sound system with 15 speakers, a 360° camera, an MBUX interior assistant, a driver-assistance package, and a heads-up display. AMG Track Pace makes the pilot feel like a proper racing driver, and provides a ton of data for racetrack driving, while a front-axle lift system helps navigate speed bumps or curbs.

Ambient lighting and the energizing package add comfort on long trips, although we doubt many of these machines will ever do any meaningful mileage.

Unfortunately, we expect this to just sit in dealers and garages, and not be driven hard. PHOTOS FROM MERCEDES-AMG

A “1 out of 200” badge on the center console marks its limited-edition status, and will likely condemn many of them to a life in various showrooms and collector’s garages. Wherever they end up in, it won’t be easy to steal one as the cars come with Guard 360° vehicle monitoring.

Each buyer also receives a custom AMG indoor car cover to protect the vehicle from dust and scratches, complete with a breathable outer skin and a fluffy flannel inner lining.

Aimed at enthusiasts and collectors who crave a sporty driving experienceand with a big walletthis Motorsport Collectors Edition packs 612hp from its 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine.

With aerodynamic refinements for reduced lift and improved cooling, it promises an exhilarating drive and almost guarantees plenty of attention wherever it goes. Mercedes hasn’t revealed the price yet, but you probably won’t get much change out of $200,000 (P11,100,000).
