When we first laid eyes on the Hyundai Casper and its Inster electric twin, we thought that both vehicles were already good enough for their intended roles as practical city cars. After all, one can only do so much to spice up such vehicles. But the South Korean automaker felt like its family of cute runabouts needed one more member.

That’s the Inster Cross, and the name is already a dead giveaway on the additional kit that this model has. Skid plates and fender overriders will supposedly offer protection from the curbs that this car will inevitably mount during parallel-parking. On the other hand, the optional roof basket might find itself useful when the cabin runs out of space.

Speaking of space, the Inster Cross has a sliding and reclining rear bench—a feature rarely present in the segment. Additionally, all seats can apparently be folded flat so the car can be transformed into a mini camper.
The Inster Cross can do 360km, and the battery can be charged to 80% capacity in 30 minutes. Hyundai has also thoughtfully given it a comprehensive suite of electronic driver aids as standard equipment. Production is slated to begin within the year.
