Private customer racing teams have something to look forward to for the 2026 race season. BMW M Motorsport has introduced its new entry-level track machine—the BMW M2 Racing.

Based on the current M2 chassis but with various upgrades, the M2 Racing was developed to deliver pure performance, durability, and driving pleasure at an attainable price point. This race car pushes 313hp and can hit a top speed of over 270km/h.

“With the introduction of the BMW M2 Racing, we are continuing a proud tradition,” shares BMW M GmbH CEO Franciscus van Meel. “Like its predecessors—the M235i Racing, the M240i Racing, and the M2 CS Racing—the new M2 Racing will redefine the entry-level segment. At BMW M Motorsport, supporting customer racing with cars that are easy to maintain, cost-efficient, and thrilling to drive is a top priority.”

So much has been poured into developing the M2 Racing thanks to the BMW M works drivers. To optimize drivability, intuitive handling, performance, mileage, and tire wear, the test drivers have put the car through intense drive sessions including race conditions. A build that’s ready for both novice and seasoned racers.

“The development was carried out in close collaboration between BMW M Motorsport and experts from series production,” said Björn Lellmann, customer racing head at BMW M Motorsport. “The result is a powerful race car that combines easy operation with low running costs. This efficiency makes the BMW M2 Racing particularly attractive for grassroots motorsport—and makes racing even more accessible to customers.”

With all things considered, the Euro market price for this race machine is a reasonable €98,000 (roughly P6.2 million). Apart from carrying the technical DNA of BMW M, it also looks the part with livery colors of the brand’s performance division.

We would definitely love to see this beast in action.
