Last May, the southbound lanes of the EDSA-Kamuning Flyover were closed to private vehicles for retrofitting. The roadwork was supposed to last until October 25. But it finished ahead of schedule. That is why the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority have reopened the flyover to motorists.
“The DPWH was able to finish the flyover’s retrofitting works two months ahead of schedule, intended to strengthen and prepare it for potential earthquakes or the Big One,” said MMDA acting chairman Don Artes.
As for other roadworks in the metro, rehabilitation is ongoing for the Magallanes Flyover but only at night, so there’s no need for any road closures. Meanwhile, the repair of the Guadalupe Bridge is still being planned as a temporary bridge will have to be constructed for light vehicles.
