If you encounter a deaf person in your everyday life, are you confident that you can effectively communicate with them?

Grab Philippines has just introduced its CommuniKit to facilitate smooth interaction between passengers and deaf drivers. This visual guide consists of colorful postcards—as well as a whiteboard and a marker—located inside the car.

The kit was cocreated with advocacy groups such as DeafEd Philippines and the Philippine National Association of Sign Language Interpreters, to ensure it adheres to industry standards that meet the needs of deaf people.

“In championing inclusive success for everyone in the digital economy, it is with full dedication that we make sure nobody is left behind,” said Grab Philippines country head Ronald Roda. “As we create livelihood opportunities for tens of thousands of our kababayans, it is our goal to also empower marginalized groups such as deaf drivers to grab the same tech-enabled opportunities—serving as the catalyst for achieving their aspirations while they contribute as integral members of our fleet regardless of their disability.”

Through this simple yet creative initiative, Grab Philippines strives to empower the deaf community and make transportation more inclusive for Filipinos.
