Mitsubishi Motors Philippines may be a far second in total sales based on the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines’ tabulation, but the distributor of the Japanese vehicle brand is celebrating a major milestone.

MMPC has posted record-breaking sales for fiscal year 2023, selling 81,473 units—a 34% increase from the previous fiscal year (60,630 vehicles). This is also the best year for the company sales-wise, even besting its previous record for FY2017.

The locally produced Mirage G4 and L300, and the Xpander were the top performers for Mitsubishi last year.

In fact, 26,139 units of the subcompact sedan and 13,101 units of the utility vehicle rolled off MMPC’s Santa Rosa plant in Laguna. Meanwhile, 24,178 Xpanders were also sold in the same period, as certified by CAMPI.

MMPC is on a high after celebrating its 60th anniversary in the country and breaching the one-million-unit sales milestone in the Philippines. It is also bullish as the recently launched Triton pickup has been selling like hotcakes lately.

With more new models on the horizon, can Mitsubishi continue this hot streak and further close the gap with perennial sales leader Toyota Motor Philippines? Let’s all wait and see.
