Astara is now the official distributor of JMC pickups in PH

Expect new players in the pickup-truck segment

The next big trend in the Philippine automotive industry is for international automotive groups to take charge of distributing multiple manufacturers, such as Inchcape and Astara.

In fact, the latter has just acquired the rights to distribute the Chinese manufacturer JMC (Jiangling Motors Corporation) and its pickups in the country, taking over from previous distributor Universal Motors Corporation. The multinational firm has successfully operated JMC’s business in South American countries like Chile, Bolivia, and Colombia since 2019.

Currently, the automaker sells commercial trucks, buses, and vans, but we’re hopeful that Astara will bring in more of its vehicles, like the Grand Avenue midsize pickup (pictured above), and hopefully, more details about the brand will be revealed in the coming months.

“At Astara, we are honored to include JMC in our distribution activities in the Philippines,” says Jorge Navea, CEO of Astara. “This leading brand stands as a great asset to our portfolio in the Philippines, aligning perfectly with Astara’s vision for the future of mobility. Our successful representation of the brand in other countries demonstrates our ability to serve its loyal customers, dealer network, and business partners.”
