Hot Wheels gives Knight Rider’s KITT a working LED scanner bar

To be made available on July 22

Time flies. The favorite TV show of car-loving boys during my childhood is celebrating its 40th anniversary. We’re talking about Knight Rider, whose anthropomorphic car named KITT caught the fancy of countless male viewers during my puberty.

Helping the automotive TV star mark its birthday is Hot Wheels. In its Facebook post, the wheeled toymaker says:

In honor of the 40th anniversary of Knight Rider, we’ve created a turbo-boosted Hot Wheels die-cast of KITT with a working LED scanner bar, just like the one you’ve seen from the iconic TV show.

We don’t know what they mean by “turbo-boosted.” But on Instagram, the toy brand teased the “working LED scanner bar.”

If you want this collector’s item, you have to get it from Mattel Creations starting on July 22. Have fun.
