The Pininfarina Battista Anniversario is a 1,900hp birthday gift

Pininfarina, the celebrated Italian coachbuilder, is celebrating its 90th birthday this year. But rather than having a fancy steak dinner and fine wine, the company built a car. A very, very special car.

It’s called the Battista Anniversario. If Battista sounds familiar, that’s because the design firm has already created an electric hypercar named after the organization’s founder. That car is already sensational as it is, so the Anniversario version has some extra special touches that set it apart from the standard model.

Very prominent on the Battista Anniversario are the split, upturned flaps that make up the rear wing assembly. It also comes equipped with updated aero parts courtesy of the Furiosa appearance package, which is available as an optional extra on regular Battistas. And just to make sure no one gets the age wrong, there are unique “Pininfarina 90” emblems and bespoke plaques around the car reminding everyone about the milestone.

Worth mentioning is the Anniversario’s livery, which is specifically crafted for the car. Skilled artists take weeks to put on the combination of Pininfarina’s signature white, gray and blue hues. They go to great lengths to create one of the most stunning paint jobs in the world, which involves painstakingly layering each color by hand and taking the vehicle apart so that each painter can place the pinstripes with absolute precision.

The Battista Anniversario’s power unit is the same one found in the standard vehicle. Four electric motors work together to produce 1,900hp. Even more impressive is the 2,300Nm of torque. But instead of spinning the earth backward, it rockets the Anniversario to 100km/h from a standstill in under two seconds, and to 300km/h in less than 12 seconds. Pininfarina claims that such performance cannot be achieved with internal-combustion engines. Be sensible with the accelerator, though, and the car can drive as far as 500km on a single charge.

Pininfarina adds that only five examples will be built, each one handcrafted in Cambiano, Turin. And before you whip out the checkbook, make sure that your account balance is enough for the eye-watering €2.6 million (P147 million) price tag. This literally makes the Battista Anniversario a dream car.

Keep dreaming is what we’re saying.
