The Mitsubishi Strada Athlete is designed to turn heads

The stylish workhorse has just become more attractive

Here’s an announcement we missed at the start of the enhanced community quarantine: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines now has a head-turning variant for its popular pickup truck. Called the Strada Athlete, this version is what an otherwise utilitarian workhorse would look like if it hired the services of a fashion stylist.

The Strada Athlete boasts the following elements:

  • black Dynamic Shield
  • black front bumper garnish
  • 18-inch black alloy wheels
  • styling bar
  • side decal accents
  • two-tone interior finish (4×4)

To be clear, this variant is purely an exercise in cosmetic enhancement. Both the 4×2 and the 4×4 are still powered by the standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder DOHC turbodiesel MIVEC (4N15) engine rated at 179hp and 430Nm. If you’re interested, you can drive one home for P1,443,000 (4×2) or P1,760,000 (4×4).

The Mitsubishi Strada Athlete is available in Sunflare Orange Pearl (exclusive to the Athlete variant), White Diamond and Graphite Gray Metallic.

These days, the most sought-after vehicle models are those priced in the neighborhood of P600,000—or the mini hatchbacks, in other words. But that doesn’t mean pickup trucks can’t sell reasonably well in the coming months. If you’re in the market for one, just know that a flashy option can be had if you’re the type who likes attention.
