Bentley has unveiled its latest and most high-tech (not to mention most powerful) model yet—the four-door super sedan that is known as the Flying Spur.
Power is generated by a hybridized twin-turbo V8 outputting 771hp and 1,000Nm of torque, driving all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. This gives the Flying Spur the ability to sprint to 100km/h from rest in a supercar-taunting 3.5 seconds.
Bentley claims that despite the loss of cylinders, the 2025 Flying Spur has a better power-to-weight ratio than its W12-engined predecessor, which, together with the hybrid system, gives the big sedan a whooping 829km of range from a single tank. Impressive efficiency indeed.
The plug-in hybrid system gives the Flying Spur a claimed all-electric driving range of 76km from its 25.9kWh battery, and only emits a minuscule 33g CO₂/km.
While the platform is essentially similar to last year’s model, Bentley updated the latest model with a revised front bumper, a new front grille, and new wheel designs up to a massive 22 inches to modernize this stately limousine.
However, underneath, the latest Flying Spur gets some serious improvements.
The platform has been retrofitted with the brand’s latest electrical architecture that allows for the integration of modern dynamic and safety features.
These include Bentley’s Dynamic Chassis, Active Ride suspension system, and a more dynamic rear-axle steering system designed to boost maneuverability and responsiveness. It is, after all, a car Bentley foresees its owners to both drive and enjoy doing so as much as to be driven in depending on their mood.
The inside, of course, has not been neglected. Interior updates include a new Precision Diamond quilt pattern on the sumptuous leather-clad seats and Precision 3D Diamond leather on the doors and the B-pillars.
New wellness seating with Postural Adjust and Seat Auto Climate is available for all four seats. The rear seats can be optioned out as a standard bench that seats three, or a more exclusive two-seat rear configuration that feels more plush and comfortable.
A new 12.3-inch touch display sits in the middle of the dash. There are remote wireless-control tablets for the rear occupants in the back for the multimedia system, and Bentley has thankfully added wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the latest infotainment system.
A 10-speaker surround sound is standard, but Bentley offers two hi-fi surround sound options: a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen system and an even more powerful (and more posh) 19-speaker setup from British audio specialist Naim. The latter option also has illuminated speaker grilles.
German too boring? British too risky? Then perhaps the marriage of both—Bentley is part of the Volkswagen Group—will give you the exclusivity, the excitement, and the reliability you desire in a super sedan.
