Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru vehicles, loves to offer dressed-up versions of its vehicles, commonly referred to as GT Editions.
We’ve seen a preview of them at the 2024 Singapore Motor Show, but we finally get to see them make their debut at this year’s Manila International Auto Show.
First up is the Crosstrek GT Edition. Like before, the bodykit is designed by Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi, former Subaru chief designer.
External additions include front/side/rear lips, a roof spoiler, and new two-tone 18-inch wheels. New are large black garnishes around the front bumper and the doors. The interior also gets two-tone gray leather seats with red contrast stitching and the GT Edition logo embroidered on the seats.
Otherwise, it is based on the Crosstrek i-S, so it comes with the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine that pushes out 154hp and 196Nm, a CVT, and the Symmetrical AWD System. This will retail for P2,088,000.
Several others are previews for upcoming models.
The first is the Forester GT Wild Edition, Motor Image’s take on the US-only Forester Wilderness edition.
Here, lots of matte-black decals are used all over the body to help improve its rugged appeal and also to act as an anti-glare measure for the hood. It also gets all-terrain Yokohama Geolandar tires wrapped around 17-inch off-road-inspired alloy wheels.
Next is the WRX GT Edition. Arguably the most tame of them all, this features a lower bodykit with silver accents and an STI grille. While the one previewed in Singapore had new wheels, this one still rolls on the same wheels as the stock WRX sedan.
The one that visitors get most excited about is the BRZ STI Edition. It has an STI bodykit that’s just as functional as it is aesthetic, with a front under-spoiler, fender garnish, side skirts, and a rear diffuser that all reduce drag and minimize front lift. The car also has that glorious carbon-fiber rear wing at the back as well as the STI wheels.
The interior likewise gets a few red accents, including a leather steering wheel with a red centering stripe.
You can see all of these at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show at World Trade Center until April 7.
