Honda spices up its upcoming models for 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon

Don’t worry, Mugen and HRC will also be there

Honda is no stranger to the tuning world, and this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon would be hard to miss with how much the company achieved in 2023. However, the main stars it has in store appear unconventional in an aftermarket event.

Remember the Elevate? In November, Honda debuted the subcompact crossover from India for its home market, wearing the WR-V badge. In anticipation of its spring 2024 launch,  a rugged, outdoorsy design called the Field Explorer Concept will be showcased at its booth, wearing extra yellow lights, plastic bottom guards, and a roof rack.

Another model coming next spring is the 11th-generation Accord, and the brand will preview new dress-up parts at the show courtesy of Honda Access. The sharp lower front, side, and rear skirts, the rear lip spoiler, and the fender garnish complete the inoffensive design of the midsize sedan in crystal black pearl for the Sport Line package.

This being an event for enthusiasts, Honda wouldn’t forget about the Civic Type R. After debuting at last year’s Tokyo Auto Salon as a concept, Mugen will finally reveal the production-ready kits for the FL5 chassis.

The gaping front lip, the exaggerated side skirts, the larger-than-life rear diffuser, the bespoke rear wing, and the aggressive front fenders were retained from the prototype design.

Of course, a Honda showcase wouldn’t be complete without Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and a celebration of its success last year. The F1 championship-winning Red Bull RB19 will be the highlight alongside other motorsport ventures in Super Formula, Super Taikyu, classic rallying, N-One one-make race, and 2024 Super GT season.

The 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon will happen at Makuhari Messe in Chiba this coming January 12-14.
