Remember when we said that Chevrolet Philippines would launch the new Trax on July 14? It turns out that the date is meant to be for the media launch for the next generation of the compact crossover, but The Covenant Car Company Inc. planned its public unveiling on July 4.
The new Trax departs from the short and stubby appearance for a longer and sleeker stance, being 279mm longer and 51mm wider than the previous subcompact model.
Its only engine option is a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder paired with a six-speed automatic. That means the new compact crossover is sourced from South Korea instead of China, where it’s known as the Seeker with a four-cylinder engine and CVT.
Three trim levels are available for the new Trax: LT, Redline and RS.
The base-trim LT has a conventional instrument cluster and an eight-inch infotainment system, and both the other two have an eight-way power adjustable driver seat, an eight-inch driver information display, and an 11-inch infotainment system.
Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line RS model exclusively comes with a wireless charging pad, a power tailgate, and an electric sunroof.
Prices for the new Trax have not been revealed, as we suspect Chevrolet Philippines wants to bring hype toward its official reveal on its Facebook page on the fourth of July at 6pm. Are you ready to see the rebirth of a crossover nameplate?
