Apparently, the rumors were true: Esteban Ocon will drive for Haas in 2025. The Frenchman will be replacing the outgoing Kevin Magnussen, and he will be teaming up with rookie Ollie Bearman. It seems that Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu played a key role in the signing of Ocon given their history.
“I’m delighted we’ve secured Esteban Ocon’s services for Haas,” said Komatsu. “I’ve obviously been aware of his talents for a long time, and our personal history dates back to Esteban’s maiden run in a Formula 1 car—I was his race engineer that day with Lotus.”
Although the puzzle pieces are starting to come together, the 2025 F1 grid is far from complete. Carlos Sainz has not yet signed up for a new team; Red Bull still has to decide if it will keep Sergio Perez; and Merecedes-AMG has yet to confirm if its junior Kimi Antonelli will be filling in Lewis Hamilton’s seat.
