Local fans of the Subaru XV will be happy to know that Motor Image Pilipinas, the distributor of the brand in our country, will finally bring in the third-generation model. It will now be called Crosstrek and arrive on our shores this July 19.

For the uninitiated, the brand has decided to unify the model name across the world, ditching the XV marque for “Crosstrek.” This is what it was called in the North American market until very recently.

The third generation adopts a newer variation of the “Bolder” design language with sharper and more angular design elements all around the body. For our market, we will be receiving it in three new colors: Oasis BlueOffshore Blue Metallic, and Sun Blaze Pearl.

The interior now features a large portrait 11.6-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. There are redesigned ergonomic front seats, as well as EyeSight 4.0. This adds autonomous emergency steering, lane departure prevention, a lane-centering function, and the enhanced ability to detect pedestrians and cyclists at low speeds.

With no specific mention of the engine, it will probably have the same naturally aspirated 2.0-liter flat-four from the last generation’s model. That is unless Subaru Philippines decides to throw a curveball and introduce the e-Boxer powertrain.

The automaker will reveal more details in the next few days leading up to the launch. But we know the two variants and their launch prices. These are the 2.0 iL EyeSight, which costs P1,998,000, and the 2.0 iS EyeSight, which goes for P2,018,000.
