Were you a naughty or nice motorist this year?

Take this simple self-assessment test to find out

Were you guilty of distracted driving this year? Resolve to kick the habit in 2018. ILLUSTRATION BY MARCO RIVERA

You don’t need to believe in Santa Claus to have a reason for assessing your behavior in the past 12 months—specifically, whether you were naughty or nice behind the wheel of your beloved car. Because even if you don’t—of course you don’t (hopefully)—the end of the year is always a good time for self-evaluation in the hope of preparing oneself for the coming year. Indeed, what’s the point of living if we’re not striving to become better individuals as citizens, as professionals, as parents, as friends and, yes, as motorists?

So here’s a little fun test we’ve prepared to help you appraise your overall driving performance in 2017. Just answer each question with a yes or a no, and then tally your total score with the corresponding points that come with the answers.

Now, get a pen and a piece of paper, and go through 17 introspective items (in honor of the outgoing year, obviously). Needless to say: No cheating, please. At the end of the quiz, you will find your rating as a motorist. Feel free to share it with us.

Have fun looking back at your year on the road.
