If you are renewing your license, some good news.
There is no need to go to a driving school to take a refresher course to help you pass the Comprehensive Driver’s Education validation exam. According to the Land Transportation Office, all one has to do is go to its Land Transportation Management System portal, and everything you would need is already there. And best of all, it’s free.
People need to undergo the CDE program and take its exam as both are required now ever since the validity period of our licenses has been extended to 10 years (see Republic Act No. 10930). There are 25 questions in the test, and you have to answer 13 of them correctly for you to get the certificate, which is one of the requirements for driver’s license renewal.
The LTO shared that between November 3, 2021, and January 31, 2022, the agency renewed the licenses of 341,005 individuals, and 331,440 of them took the CDE program online via the LTMS portal. That is a whopping 97.19% majority. In NCR, during the same time period, only 61 of the 185,231 applicants took CDE seminars at LTO-accredited driving schools.
So, again, if you are renewing your license, don’t fret. No need to shell out dough to get ready for the exam. The LTO’s LTMS portal operates on a 24/7 basis, so you can study the modules at your own pace and time—then you can take the test. Pray you get more than 13 answers correct.
