Good news: 4 lanes of northbound NLEX Marilao are now open

Way earlier than the initial end-of-month estimate

You already know that the northbound portion of the Marilao Interchange Bridge on the NLEX suffered a significant hit courtesy of two trucks last March 19. As a result, the tollway operator had to close a couple of lanes to repair the damage to the bridge.

With limited passage on the expressway, traffic stood still. NLEX Corporation initially said that the repair of the bridge would take at least “two weeks,” which was horrible news for those who regularly plied the thoroughfare.

Well, we now have happy information for everyone: According to NLEX management, “all four lanes” of northbound NLEX Marilao are now open. This has been in effect since 1am of today (March 26).

From the official statement:

While all lanes will now be passable, supporting steel poles will remain on the lanes to allow concrete curing of the bridge. With this development, traffic flow in Marilao Northbound will now improve and normalize in the next few days.

Half of us is cheering the tollway operator for the speedy action, but our other half can’t help but think that the toll relief forced the company to expedite the work.

But…nah. It’s just the conspiracy theorists in us talking.
