Expect heavy traffic from March 15 to 17 due to transport of tunnel boring machine

It will make its way from Manila Harbor Center to Camp Aguinaldo

These are the affected roads. SCREENSHOT FROM DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

Make way for the tunnel boring machine (TBM). The Department of Transportation is advising motorists to consider alternative routes to avoid the transport operation of the TBM, which will be transiting from the Manila Harbor Center to Camp Aguinaldo. This may cause traffic to slow down on the following roads between 9pm to 4am from March 15 to 17:

  • Port/R10: 9pm to 9:30pm
  • C3 Road: 9:30pm to 10:30pm
  • 5th Avenue: 10:30pm to 12 midnight
  • G. Araneta Avenue: 12 midnight to 1:30am
  • E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue: 1:30am to 2am
  • Gilmore Avenue: 2am to 3am
  • Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue: 3am to 4am
The tunnel boring machine came all the way from Japan. PHOTO FROM SUMITOMO MITSUI CONSTRUCTION

The TBM of Sumitomo Mitsui Construction will be used to construct the tunnels connecting the Camp Aguinaldo Station and the Ortigas Station of the Metro Manila Subway. This may cause inconvenience, but it’s a small sacrifice compared to the long-term benefit of a proper subway system.
