Car-free Sunday mornings on Ayala Avenue to continue until end of year

Thanks to overwhelming support

In line with World Car-Free Day, the Facebook page Make It Makati announced that Ayala Avenue was going carless on Sunday mornings for this month. With over 12,000 participants walking, running, and biking, the grand launch was a big success with people clamoring for more. That’s why “Car-Free Sunday Mornings at Ayala Avenue” will continue for the rest of the year.

The weekly event may only last for a few hours, but this is good news as it allows people to get a glimpse of a carless lifestyle and its benefits—especially with the worsening air quality and traffic.

We hope this goes beyond leisure and fitness by inspiring people to desire a more livable Metro Manila—a city where we aren’t overly dependent on automobiles, because walking, biking, and commuting would be more convenient and efficient.
