Mazda reissues special service campaign for select 2012-2015 BT-50 units

Your rear seat could suddenly fall when you brake too hard

Mazda sincerely cares for the welfare of its customers, and has proven this to be true several times. The automaker recently reissued a proactive special service campaign (which was initially announced by Mazda Motor Corporation in 2017) for certain BT-50 units built from 2012 to 2015.

The issue involves a malfunctioning lock mechanism for the back seat of the pickup truck. Its purpose is to secure the rear seat in an upright position, but since it is faulty, it could result in the seat falling when braking. Furthermore, the clearance between the seat and a child-restraint will end up being too narrow when a rear-facing child seat is mounted.

Affected trucks were assembled in the Thailand plant from May 2012 to June 2015. The vehicle identification numbers of said units are between MM7UP*****W118317 and 462951. If your pickup’s VIN falls within this range, it is highly recommended that you contact any of the 15 authorized dealerships for confirmation, and then schedule a service appointment for a free replacement of the defective part. The procedure is said to take not longer than two hours. Affected owners can also book an appointment online via this site.

The brand’s dedication to its clients’ safety and satisfaction through service initiatives such as this, is an important part of delivering a genuinely premium ownership experience. It is another reason Mazda Philippines took the top slot in market research firm JD Power’s 2019 Philippines Customer Service Index study.
