Collaborations are nothing new in the automotive industry. There are licensing deals, platform- and technology-sharing, and joint ventures for technological advancements. You name it, and most carmakers have already engaged in it.
But if there’s one thing unheard of—or at least doesn’t happen regularly—is when brands’ performance divisions set aside competition and join hands to fuel their fans’ passion. This is exactly what Hyundai and Toyota want to achieve.
Scheduled for October 27, Hyundai’s N and Toyota’s Gazoo Racing divisions will hold a festival for its fans at the Yongin Everland Speedway in South Korea. Dubbed the “Hyundai N x Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival,” the event will feature performances that will satisfy every speed junkie’s appetite.
A shorun will feature world-class World Rally Championship drivers stretching the legs of the two brands’ WRC fighters. Owners of N and GR vehicles can also join a special track day event.
Fans will be treated to various activities like a WRC taxi event, a brand experience, and giveaway events to enjoy—among others to be announced soon. There will also be a special performance to show how rich Asian car culture is.
Other attractions at the festival include booths for brand experience, places to get original merchandise, and an exhibition of selected N and GR models. There will also be WRC simulators that visitors can try.
You can also visit the service park, where customers can see how the show vehicles are maintained; a Gymkhana event; and a variety of food-and-beverage kiosks.
The event will run from 12:30pm KST (11:30am in the Philippines) till 5pm KST (4pm Philippine time). Tickets worth 10,000 and 20,000 won (P422 and P844) are being sold now through this website, and will come with a designated seating system through advanced reservation.
Ticket-related inquiries can be sent through this e-mail.
According to the organizers, proceeds from the event can help further develop the domestic car culture in South Korea.
The groundbreaking event is not just for Hyundai’s and Toyota’s fans, but for all car enthusiasts. Hopefully, this will not be a one-off thing, but the first of many more.
