When professional basketball players and cars come together, images of supercars or blinged-out SUVs showing up at the games come to mind. But for its 75th anniversary, the NBA is looking at a different type of vehicle. It has announced a partnership with Formula 1 in its return to the United States this year.

The actual cars will not be painted in the colors of the various basketball teams. Instead, renders of the same will be uploaded on NBA and F1 social-media channels. All 30 teams will be featured, and based on the image above, the blank digital canvass will likely be the heavily updated 2022 machine.

In addition, various drivers will compete in a free-throw challenge at a basketball half court within the premises of the Circuit of the Americas track in Austin, Texas. Veteran NBA players will apparently be coaching the drivers as they battle for $20,000 (P1.01 million), which will be donated to the winner’s charity of choice.

The United States Grand Prix will take place on October 22-24.
